Item upgrading is a key component to maximizing your gearing potential. It allows you to add extra bonus stats on top of your base level item's value.

Each upgrade template comes with a set of options that can be configured via the GUI. These options include upgrading reference and chances of upgrading.

Upgrade components

The system for upgrading weapons, armor, and other gear in Cyberpunk 2077 has been revamped as part of the 2.0 update. Upgrade components are scattered across Night City. The item you want to upgrade must also include an upgrade slot. When you choose an item to upgrade the game will display a preview of what the expected stats will be following upgrading, as well as the component or material needed. If you don't have the required level or resource to upgrade an item the button will say "Blocked."

Weapons and armor can be upgraded along with a few trinkets and gathering tools. The upgrade slots on all of these are filled with different upgrades that provide attribute bonuses or extra effects while the equipment is in use. These upgrades are available by crafting, purchased from a vendor, or looted.

There are two types of gemstones and universal upgrades. Universal upgrades are similar to gems and can be used in any equipment. They offer a lower bonus than other upgrade components. You can buy rerolls and other items in-game from Sagbe which is an in-game Token Shop trader. You can also earn free rerolls by redeeming active codes in Fire Force Online. These codes can be used to obtain various items such as Reroll Tokens and Clan Reroll Tokens.

Rerolls can be useful in the early stages of the game, when you are trying to increase your inventory and dungeon gear. They're not the best method to increase your character's stats. Instead, you should concentrate on increasing your skill points. You can also earn bonus points by completing event stages.

Leveling

Accelerators are available on the Exchange. They increase the Tech Points earned from upgrading by 50%. This bonus does not apply to the item's chance of quality which is reset once the item reaches the mark level.

The Upgrade NPC offers a service to facilitate transfers of gear. This will allow players to save the experience and upgrade progress of a piece of gear and transfer it to a different item that is in the same slot. This can be useful for players who wish to upgrade their gear but don't have enough currency to buy a new set.
