World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Item upgrades are a way to increase the stats of an item. Depending on the type of upgrade, it can boost the rarity of an item or mark Level and increase other stats.
The process of upgrading gear in The War Within requires a specified number of Flightstones and Crests, and each item comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a specific amount.
Item Level
The value of an item's basic stats increases when it is upgraded. This value is the total of all of its leveled up perks (attack, magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be costly, dependent on who you employ and what you do. This is due to the sheer number of perks that need to be modified to upgrade an item.
It can also be used to enforce gating requirements when queueing for raids, dungeons and scenarios. It can also be used as a gating requirement while queueing for dungeons, scenarios and raids, and to limit the amount of PvP gear players can wear (since PvP is capped at a lower level). The average level of the item is listed on the character sheet.
When deciding whether to buy or sell gear players can evaluate the item level. It's a sign of the item's condition and its quality. The item level can also be used to compare items when evaluating the inventory of a vendor.
On your PC, you can view the item level using ALT, or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will show the full item description, including its value. It is also accessible by hovering over an item with the mouse cursor and typing /itemlevel in chat.
There are item upgrading about the method by which the level of an item is determined. One theory says that the item level is calculated by formulas that determine how valuable an item's stats actually are. It takes into account the fact that different perks have different worth and that sockets have gems that increase the value of the item overall. This can lead to a calculated item's ilvl that is often very close to Blizzard's actual item level.
This is not the only thing that affects the ilvl of an item. The level of the area where the item dropped can also alter its stats. For instance, it could increase the item's haste, or crit rating. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have more the ilvl than items from lower level instances.
Item Stats
The item's stats can determine the fate of an item for players. The game uses a variety of them in various ways to encourage players to play with multiple weapons, and also to stop one weapon from being "the most effective." The base stats on a weapon are enhanced by the weapon's stat modifications that are in turn enhanced by the player's level.
The upgrades to an item can increase its stats. The upgrade costs are determined by the rarity of the item. An item that is white or grey, for example, will only be upgraded once, while an item with rare tiers can be upgraded multiple times at higher prices.
Affixes can also be used to alter the stats of an item. They are stat boosts which can be added by the player to an item. The affixes are used to give items additional damage or other special abilities (such as the ability to revive dead or reduce cooling downs) or to make them unique by naming them.
All affixes are re-rolled at the moment by selecting them in the upgrade window, pressing the green button. This procedure will cost the player a certain amount of gold as well as items which can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same manner as other rerolling options.
In addition to the possibility of rerolling affixes, players may select which stats they want to keep on an item when it is upgraded. The possible ranges of stats for an item are determined by the level of the item, but every item is guaranteed to have at minimum one stat within the range, unless it is an exclusive item or the result of a God roll from a boss in a raid.
Another thing that could change is the possibility of upgrading equipment without having to reroll the attaches, or select which stats to boost. As with the base equipment, this would have to be done per item and the interface for item comparison will not show all possible stats at once.
Item Luck
The Luck stat for a player adds up to increase the chances of item discoveries, the properties spawned on loot drops, and the intensity of those properties. However, it does not, directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade item s. It simply gives players a possibility to obtain better gear in earlier waves, and is therefore more beneficial in the early game than in later ones, because most players value more powerful weapon scaling and defenses over damage gains.
In addition to influencing item discovery, Luck also increases the chances of being successful when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chance of upgrading, which increase with each level of the item. They can also be enhanced by using anti-materials like the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.
The shields, armor, and weapons have the default Luck value of 40. These items can be enhanced with golden ingots or spined leather (depending on the type of material) to add another 40 luck or to boost an item's existing Luck up to 140.
Certain items, like the Hollow-infused weapon, can also be equipped to increase the damage of any ability that causes damage by 5%. These items are available at the store or made using the correct ingredients.
Item Failure
Not all upgrades work. Cash shop items can be used to increase the chance of success of an upgrade, or to protect players from losing their item if it does not work.
The success rate of an upgrade is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the likelihood of successful upgrading an item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special Materials. The chance of success can only be increased by so high, and the probability that an upgrade will fail can't exceed 100%..
The Luck of an item can affect the success of an upgrade. Every item has an overall success rate of 25 percent, and each item that has Luck increases the chance of success by 5percent.
Note that item upgrades are rendered above the items in the inventory, so enchantment glint and other effects may be obstructed by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
